Podcast Show Notes Season Two 2022

Episode Twenty-Seven: Nov. 16, 2022.

Title – Pre-Holiday Insights

It’s their Season Two finale, and Suze and Jenni do a quick look back at their deep dive into emotions and feelings. What’s the difference between the two? Why bother with them? How do they affect our bodies and our relationships? There was so much discussed!

Jenni and Suze also reminded themselves how they started their project, about the need to prepare emotionally for events. There is no time like the last bit of the year to revisit this topic. Join us in changing how we do events. We’re shifting our focus from the external things to preparing ourselves from within for handling whatever comes our way.

This discussion led Jenni and Suze to remember what Season One was about. What are triggers? What do we do if we trigger someone? What the heck is trigger ping pong? Suze and Jenni remind each other to use their trigger plans throughout the coming months, and they encourage you to create a trigger plan if you haven’t already done it. If you’re struggling to even understand what a trigger plan is, please listen to Season One!

Usually, this type of episode would end with a Maxer Method, yet being the end of the season, that didn’t feel right. So tis the giving season, and Suze and Jenni announced their new Maxers Community Facebook group! It’s a private group for fellow insight seekers to give and receive insights for the holidays and the coming new year.

Jenni and Suze would love this community to be a place where people can share their joys and tears as we all try to gain more insight that we can put into action to make our lives better! Join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/524983982549427.

Suze and Jenni wish everyone more moments that are wonderful than stressful in this time of holidays and gatherings! We look forward to reconnecting in 2023!

Suze Gadol Anderson lives in Eugene, Oregon. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, practicing in Texas and in Oregon. Jenni Hubby is a Certified Professional Coach living in Burnet, Texas, who is able to work with anyone in the United States.

Episode Twenty-Six: Nov. 3, 2022.

Title – Distraction Actions

Suze and Jenni practiced the Maxer Method by completing the Distraction Action Assessment, which can be retrieved at our Handouts page. Neither were too surprised by the information they learned, yet they were able to see that working on themselves has paid off over time. They realized that they didn’t use some of the distraction actions that they used to use. It can be confusing about what to do with some of the information from the assessment, because we can’t totally stop some or many of the distraction actions discussed. What can we do when we want to do something else instead of a distraction action? Jenni and Suze work through that!

Suze Gadol Anderson lives in Eugene, Oregon. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, practicing in Texas and in Oregon. Jenni Hubby is a Certified Professional Coach living in Burnet, Texas, who is able to work with anyone in the United States.

Title ––Distraction Actions

Suze and Jenni talk about a potentially unhealthy coping strategy that they call “distraction actions.” Jenni educated us on how we can use distraction actions as a means to avoid feeling emotions, including how they can become habitual and even addictive. To help us change our distraction actions, they provide an assessment with insight and action-oriented questions for the Maxer Method. You can retrieve the Distraction Actions Assessment handout here.

Title –– All Coped Out!

Suze and Jenni both agreed that trying to work on coping strategies and distractions at the same time was a bit cumbersome. They focused only on coping strategies for this Maxer Method, and both had experiences to discuss. Suze struggled a bit with being honest about an unhelpful coping strategy, and Jenni could relate to what she discussed. Both realized they have a habit of eating mindlessly, and they noticed how common this is. They discussed what they could do differently to cope with emotions instead of eating.

Title –Coping Strategies & Distractions

We all need ways to deal with our emotions, and Jenni and Suze share therapy and coaching strategies for coping mechanisms and distractions. They describe ways that they cope, constructively and potentially destructively, and they introduce a worksheet for Maxers to use to evaluate how they cope or distract themselves from feelings. Look for the new worksheet at on the Handouts tab.

Please note: while practicing the Maxer Method ourselves, we realized that coping strategies and distractions together was a lot of work! We have decided to split our original handout into two handouts, and we are only posting the coping strategies worksheet this episode. Come back for the distraction handout with episode 25.

Title – Emotions Embodied

In episode 21, Suze and Jenni discuss in more detail the part our body plays in helping our minds understand emotions and feelings we have. They discuss resources and just a few of the many therapies available that help us understand what our body is saying, and what to do with that information. They commit to practicing the Maxer Method, observing our biofeedback so we can understand what emotion we are having, and they have created a worksheet to assist with the task that can be found on our Handouts tab.
